Thoughts Spoken

If I could think a million ways

To say the same thing,

I’d still say it over and over—

I’d still mean every word.

I love you now as I had

Loved you then.

And I will keep loving you

With all that I am.

“The Old and the Mad”

I see more gray

With each passing day.

As the clock’s arrow passes,

With the browning of the grasses.

The laughter of mad fools,

After they swim in deep pools.

How they’re pitied by kings,

Wearing their golden rings.

I have felt a fool before,

After every score.

And I have felt a king,

Though now it’s all maddening.

“Into the Night”

I am tired beyond what

I believe I should be.

I am relentless with

Eyes piercing the dark.

The night sky relieves

My daily duties.

And now night stars

Dance in my eyes.

Do not expect me to sleep

With everything prancing around

My mind, tapping away against

My skull.
